Book Review: "The Last Song"

So, as you all should know by now, I LOVE TO READ!!!! And my mom's favorite author is Nicholas Sparks, and so she let me borrow her book, "The Last Song", for me to give a try.

IT WAS AWESNIFCANTACULAR!!!!! (Insider.)

The whole book was very emotional, and it just ripped your heart in a million directions. So much suspense, angst, romance, change, anger, sadness, tragedy, happiness.... How you can possibly squeeze it all into one summer, much less one book, is totally beyond me. But Nicholas Sparks did it, and the story flowed seamlessly from beginning to end.

Ronnie and her little brother, Jonah, are shipped away from their home in New York City to spend some time with their dad, Steve, in North Carolina for the summer. The only problem? Ronnie absolutely hates her father. He walked out on the family three years ago, and all that was left in his wake were the impossible memories of she and him sitting and playing the piano. It was something special that they shared, their gift in music, but when Steve left, Ronnie would have none of it. She never touched a piano again. When Julliard came knocking, Ronnie declined. The three years made her bitter towards her mother, ignorant of her father, and lost within herself. Gone was her all-American-girl image, and in its place was a tough, edgy girl Who wouldn't take any crap from anybody.

Jonah takes an immediate liking to his dad, but Ronnie avoids him, convinced that not speaking to him for three years was the easiest thing she's ever done. In the process of hiding out from Steve, she runs into- quite literally- Will. He's a volleyball player that every girl is drooling after, and he harbors a deep guilt from an incident involving his best friend. But, years ago, his best friend saved his life- Will keeping the secret was the only thing he had to do in return.

She also meets Blaze, a girl with a tough exterior, and girlfriend of Marcus, who, summed up in two words, was bad news. In one word? He was a sociopath. And Ronnie isn't stupid. She knows to stay away.... but Ronnie has a certain lure for him....

Throughout the course of the story, Ronnie changed. She finds true love, and she saves a baby turtle nest. She is accused of shoplifting by someone she thought was her friend, attends a wedding that no one will forget, and finally comes to terms with her future might hold. Throw into the mix a relentless raccoon, a job that involves touching slimy fish, and a girl on fire, things can get seriously confusing. It's no wonder that she misses some things that are going on with her dad, things that are right in front of her eyes. Things that are suddenly so heartbreakingly, impossibly, inescapably real, that the rest of her world falls apart.

But when she finds a piece of music in her father's drawer, an original composition, not yet perfected.... she knows what she has to do. The only thing that will make her at peace with herself, the only thing that might make things better, in some strange, twisted way. Ronnie swore that she would never play the piano again.... but, ironically, sometimes the promises that are the very easiest to break are the ones that you make with yourself.

And so she played his song, her song, their song. The last song. And when the music flowed from her fingertips, Steve found what he was looking for all his life. The presence of God became clear to him, and all was well.

This book is so freaking awesome, if you don't read it, I'm going to kill you :D

Patty ♥☼♫♪

BEST DAY EVER!!!!!!!

Oh. My. God. Ohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygod!!!!! OOOOOOHHHHHHH my God!!!!!! Yesterday was, undeniably, undoubtedly, no contest, the BEST DAY EVER!!!!!!!!

So I was waiting in line with Stefanie for 2 1/2 hours! Crazy, right? But so totally worth it! Because.... we were going to meet Alex Meraz & Kiowa Gordon!!!! They play Paul & Embry of the wolf pack in New Moon. It was so cool! But let me start from the beginning. (By "the beginning", I mean the interesting parts.)

So Stefanie and I are just standing here in a parking garage, trying to get a grip on our emotions, when suddenly we see some people with cameras come along. We were kind of confused, and screamed a lot when the camera pointed in our direction, but it was nothing special. Out of nowhere, BAM! The mother ship arrives! Our local NBC news station had just pulled up. The camera man was walking around, and my mom mentioned that Stefanie and I would make good people to interview. So when the reporter came around, she interviewed us! Stefanie and I were on TV!!! A whole bunch of people we knew told us later that they saw us!

So we were waiting in line or whatever, and I was still pretty excited that I was gonna be on television, but way more excited that I was going to meet Kiowa & Alex! Stef and I met these nice girls in line named Sam, Taty, and Tabatha. Sam had met tons of the stars already, and another even had a picture of her hugging Kellan Lutz on her phone! (Words cannot describe my jealousy at this.)

Eventually, we got toward the front of the line, and I got really fidgety. What was I possibly going to say? Then we got let past the initial line, and we were in the mall!!!! I was shouting my thanks to God, for granting me this beautiful moment which many don't get to experience in their lives. When we were let inside the store, I was all but on quivering on the ground crying. Superhuman strength kept me on my feet with dry eyes. Suddenly, Sam looks around the rack, and she says, really excitedly, in a voice only Twilight fangirls can achieve: "I can see them!" I looked where she was looking....

And there they were.

I saw Alex Meraz first, although I was aware that Kiowa was next to him. In that instant second that I first saw them, words cannot describe what I was feeling. It was completely surreal. It was, like, he had just stepped away from the magazine pages and the computer screen and the TV commercials, and he was a person. This was, of course, before I saw Kiowa, and my heart attack doubled. I looked away, and I had to look again. But they were still there! Once they were no longer untouchable stars, now that they were right there in front of me. It all totally threw sensibility away. Nothing made sense anymore. And you know what? I didn't care. I didn't care about anything that brought me up to that point in time, I didn't care about anything that was going to happen after that. In fact, I became nearly inadequate. I was like, wait... what's happening? Is this real? But I couldn't even take a step back to confirm it. It was all so heartbreakingly real, I almost collapsed.

I was handed a wolf pack poster of New Moon, and Stefanie and I were let in toward the autograph table! I have no clue what happened then. No one else was touching them, they were just getting their autographs and leaving. One of my only thoughts were, I have to touch them. Make physical contact. Promise myself that this is real.

Stefanie got their autograph and handed them the picture she drew for them and a song I wrote (which, mind you, was sealed away in a envelope, it was so embarrassing, I don't even want to think about it). And then it was my turn.

A person who worked there took my poster and handed it to Kiowa, and I realized in some part of my brain that I had to say something. So, here I am, just standing there, smiling like a moron, like, "Hi! It's nice to meet you!" And Kiowa smiled and said, "Hi, thanks for coming out." And I'm 99% sure I said something incoherent after that, like "Gah". And then I remembered my physical contact plan, and so I stuck out my hand. AND KIOWA GORDON SHOOK IT!!!!!!!!!!!! Before I was finished processing this, Alex had my poster and he was signing it. So I said the exact same thing, still smiling stupidly, babbling like an idiot, and he smiled at me and said "Thanks". I stuck out my hand again, and ALEX MERAZ SHOOK MY HAND!!!!!!!!

I got my poster back and I was stumbling out of the store, laughing giddily to myself. Now that I think of it, I probably looked like a crazy person. My hand was still tingling from their touch! For as long as I live, I NEVER, EVER want to forget how shaking their hands felt. Their hands were big, and strong, and warm. I run pretty warm myself, and they felt warm to me. Their handshake was perfect. They may very well have forgotten all about me, considering the next location for the cast tour, and they might have let go of my hand yesterday when they released it. But me? I still haven't let go. I've been holding on so tightly, you wouldn't imagine. I close my eyes and replay those moments, just so I'll never forget. I won't let go for a while yet.

Dadeland County public schools stopped me because they saw that I was freaking out, and asked me to freak out on camera. I was like, "Sure, easy enough." I mean, really, I had touched them, gotten their autographs, only a few moments ago! I was on full-on freak-out mode!

The Q&A session was loud, I didn't have a good view, and I couldn't see much. BUT! At the end, Alex & Kiowa were throwing things into the audience, and I couldn't really see what it was. But then Alex came and threw them over on our side of the audience, and I saw that they were cards. Pfft, I DOVE at that thing. People were scrambling after the celebrity-infused cards, but I got one! It was a New Moon trading card, as it turns out! That Alex Meraz touched!

So, if that's not the BEST DAY EVER, I don't know what is!!!!

Love,
Patty ♥♪☼$

November!

Hola, everyone! November is here, and it is a very special, important time! For a lot of pretty obvious reasons..... but I think I'll list them here, anyway. Just 'cuz I can.

If we're going in time order here, the first important and special "November happening" would be on November 11, because that's the day that I get to meet Alex Meraz and Kiowa Gordon! For those of you not in the know, they would be Paul and Embry from the wolf pack in the upcoming Twilight Saga movies. And I get to meet them! And so does Stefanie!

Yesterday, we got up early and drove to a mall a half hour away from where we live. At which point we waited for two and a half hours standing in a line in a crowded, hot, boring parking garage. A ton of Twilight fans were there, waiting! The line was MASSIVE! Some people had even camped out from the night before! Stefanie and I got out of line (our parents saved our spots) and videotaped a poll, asking people, "Are you on Team Edward or Team Jacob? Why?" Doing that was pretty fun. We're going to post the video on our YouTube channel, and I'll try to post it here. We FINALLY got into Hot Topic, and we bought our fabulous New Moon Cast Tour 2009 t-shirts, along with a wristband ensuring us admittance to the Alex/Kiowa appearance! You can see the official tour shirt above.

Another awesome thing that happens in November is my school dance on November 13! The theme is "Dancing in the Moonlight". Isn't that nice? School dances are seriously awesome. I get to see all of my friends, dress up amazingly, and dance until they kick us out. Last time I think I stopped dancing, in about 2 1/2 hours, about 4 times. Once to eat. Another to go to the bathroom. And twice for water. That's it. The rest of the time, I was dancing to my favorite songs with my favorite people in my favorite clothes at my favorite event of the school year. So. Much. Fun.

Finally! And perhaps most obviously! November 20! NEW MOON!!!!!!

11.20.09

This is SO gonna be the movie event of the year! Twilight is, like, my favorite movie EVER, but it sucked. I'm not going to pretend it was a work of genius. But it's still my favorite, if that makes sense. Just because, well, it's Twilight. Logic just isn't logical anymore when you enter this epic franchise. But New Moon looks INCREDIBLE! All the action, and drama, and heartbreak, and suspense- even though we all know how it ends. Still, it's so exciting to have this phenomenon unravel before our eyes!!!!!!

Okay, okay. I think I'm calm now. Hey, would you look at that! All of the best things in November happen within the course of 2 weeks! Luck.... it happens :)

Love,
Patty ♥♪♫☼

Happy Halloween!

Hello! I'm writing in orange and black today. Gotta have that Halloween spirit in me! So, I have to write pretty quick, 'cuz in about 5 minutes I gotta jet. I'm going trick-or-treating with my BFFs, Stefanie, Jillian, and Justina. A very happy Halloween, indeed!

I'm currently dressed up as Bella Cullen from the Twilight Saga! (I say "Cullen" instead of "Swan" because I'm her post-vampiric-transformation.) I look so fabulous. The color pallette is that of traditional Cullen wear, complete with cool colors and class, but while keeping the Bella feel by wearing a slightly less girlie shirt. Give or take, it still looks like Alice dressed her. My mom did my hair & makeup, complete with the wavy, messy locks and sparkles. LOL!

I'm gonna get lotsa tasty candy! I'm a chocoholic! After the initial outing, I'm totally trading with my friends so I can steal all of their chocolate. Haha! Oh snap, I gotta go. See, told you this entry would be quick! Kay, I love ya'll, and Happy Halloween!

Love,
Patty ♥

Book Review: "Alphas"

Hola, everyone! I love to read, and I thought I'd share one of my favorite books at the moment. "Alphas", by Lisi Harrison, is a wonderful read for anyone who is a fan of her book series "The Clique" and whoever enjoys reading about girls like themselves in an extraordinary setting.

The story takes place at Alpha Academy, where 100 lucky girls are sent to fulfill their destinies as the next generation of powerful females. Only the best of the best are chosen to attend, and even then, their enrollment is on the line.... because, you see, here's the thing about alphas. There can only be one.

Each girl competes to their limits, which are always being stretched. No matter if you are a dancer, writer, actress, model, inventor, musician- any kind of genius is welcome. Every girl has potential. But who will use it correctly? Shira Brazille, eccentric billionaire (and, in my opinion, a little wacky), has established Alpha Academy for only the brightest, most promising girls. The campus is futuristic, new technologies and gadgets to provide these fabulous girls with their every need. (Personally, I'm really jealous of this aspect. Do you have ANY idea how much I want an aPod? What with the GPS, profile scans, etc.? Yeah. I want one pretty bad.)

"Alphas" follows the story of three girls specifically, more so than others. Skye Hamilton is a dazzling dancer, star student of her dance class, an example to all. Everyone is taken aback by her spectacular grace. She also has an insatiable need to be center stage, to be watched, to be adored. She isn't bad... she just believes she is an alpha. So can you imagine her shock when she shows up at Alpha Academy surrounded by girls who just might out-fabulize her? It's a humbling experience, and she realizes she needs drive to succeed at Alpha Academy.

Allie A. Abbott is, for all intents and purposes, a criminal. Her boyfriend dumped her for her best friend, who wasn't nearly as pretty as her! She was hurt. She was humiliated. And so she did what any self-respecting teenage girl would do when an invitation for Allie J. Abbott to attend a faraway school arrived on her doorstep. She committed identity theft, and posed as singer/songwriter Allie J. But is her charade enough to disguise her identity from those who grow to know her best?

Charlotte "Charlie" Deery is being exiled from her home, Alpha Island, so that girls from across the country can attend Alpha Academy. For her, this not only means losing her home, but losing something far more important- Darwin Brazille, Shira's son, someone she's known her whole life. She loves him. He loves her back. So obviously she wanted to stay with him. But when her mother sacrificed her job working for Shira so Charlie could attend Alpha Academy, it was a heartbreak, but it meant she could stay on the island with Darwin. But Shira has a little admittance fee.... Charlie breaking up with her son. Will Charlie have to give up the two people she actually cares about to have her chance as an alpha?

This book is completely fascinating. I finished it in one day. I DEVOURED that thing. It was just so good! There was never a point where you could just drop it and go to sleep without wondering what would happen next. You grow to care about the characters, and identify with them. Harrison's characters are very realistic and relatable, and points out that we'd all like to think we have an alpha inside.

Love,
Patty ☺♥♪☼

P.S.- There's a she-wolf in the closet.... let it out so it can breathe... *pant**pant* (Haha, sorry, I just had to! "Alpha" makes me think of wolves, and in a wolf pack the alpha wolf is always a girl, so, she-wolf........ you know, I'll just shut up now.)

Friday the 13: Best. Day. Ever.

Hello, everyone! I wanted to write this blog in color to fully express my excitement! (And gay pride.... I kid, I kid.)

So everyone is always going on about, Friday the thirteenth, oh, it's bad luck, doom shall bequeath us all, blah blah blah. I'm here to tell you that they're all dirty, rotten, stinking, LIARS!!!!!!! And I shall tell you why the case may be...... that is, for me, of course :) Unless it all goes horribly wrong..... which it won't. Because it's my lucky day!!!!!

This year, it is my lucky day for two reasons! At first, I thought it was only one, but then I recieved this fabulous bit of information, and I was just like, this is a SIGN. A sign that Friday the 13 is, without a doubt, my absolute luckiest day in the history of life. Specifically, Friday, November 13, 2009.

What I already knew was that November 13 was the day of my school dance! My grade has a grand total of TWO dances every year, but they're always super-fun. They're easily the most anticipated days of the entire school year. At least, in my humble opinion, they are. I love dressing out of uniform, going to the dance with all my friends, having a blast and singing and dancing to all of our favorite songs. It's so incredible. Our normally boring cafeteria instantly becomes this lively party setting that every student can enjoy- definitely a big step up from "chamber of yelling adults and possibly poisonous unknown food substances".

The real reason why November 13 is such a big deal this year, though, is that Twilight stars are going off on their annual cast tour, and they're coming to a mall, what, a half hour drive from where I live? What are the odds that, out of 15 locations in the country they could have picked, they came in such close proximity to me? And on my lucky day? That, right there. That is FATE. Fate in its finest hour, fate finally giving back to me, after all the crap its put me through over the years! Fate is finally on my side! I was all prepared to take my chances, beg and plead to go to TwiTours for my birthday, in high hopes that I would meet a cast member in January. Oh, but why wait until January when you could meet them in THREE WEEKS?????? I'm close to fainting at the thought.

Who cares if wristband-buying time is at 8 A.M. on a Saturday morning, half an hour away, on Halloween, no less? Who cares if the thirteenth lands on a school day, and I can't miss school, or else I can't attend the dance? Or if the cast event conflicts with the school dance altogether? There will be other dances, yes? This is the opportunity of a lifetime. And I can't miss out on it. I don't care what the sacrafice is. No matter what price there is to pay, don't think for a second that I won't pay it. How in GOD'S NAME does anyone expect me to sit nicely in school, learning about exponents and eagles (I slightly wretch at the thought), when there are Twilight stars to be seen so close? I'm not taking THAT sitting down. In fact, I forsee a crying, screaming tantrum in front of my whole class. Yeah, meltdown in the middle of Algebra? Not cool.

And here is where we solve the problem..... I can just go the the Twilight star event! I shall perish otherwise. No matter what. This forever seals my opinion that Friday the 13 is, was, and always will be, the luckiest day EVER!!!!

Love,
Patty ♥♪♫☼

Jenny's Bat Mitzvah!

Hey hey hey! Just thought I'd write about one of my BFFLs, Jenny, and her bat mitzvah, which was today.

Before anything else, Jenny, I am SO INCREDIBLY proud of you. You're going to do great things in life. I just know you are.

The service was, to be quite honest, fairly boring, although I paid attention when Jenny talked. (It was easier when she was talking in English. During the parts that were in Hebrew, I just sort of nodded and pretended to get it. Also, I was faking like I knew the songs that half the people were singing by following along from the Torah pamphlet or whatever.)

After the service, we all rode in vans to the Hyatt, where the actual party was going to be, a.k.a the fun part. There was a van packed with girls, and, like, three guys sitting in the back. I almost started laughing hysterically when "You Belong With Me" by Taylor Swift came on the radio, because every single girl in the vehicle was singing along, and the guys had this pained expression on their faces. It was actually pretty amusing.

So we got to the Hyatt, and we all signed a huge cutout of Jenny, and I totally want one. Not of Jenny, of myself. Seriously, I wanna know where I can get one of those things. And we walked into the Society Lounge, and everything was decorated and beautiful! The theme was designer brands, so all the kids got to sit at the Juicy Couture table :)

Everyone looked stunning, naturally. They were all wearing lovely dresses (not the guys, duh) that ranged from solid colored to bright neon patterns, from floor length to mid-thigh. Each dress was unique, and I can't seem to think of a single person who didn't look great.

There was a photo area, where I got two photo ops with my friends and I, and we got spray-painted shirts or hats. I got a shirt with my name on it, with a pink and purple Playboy bunny. My parents are so proud :D

The food was delicious, which is only to be expected, what with all the carbs... haha! You should have seen my plate. Minus the breaded chicken fingers (is that carbs? IDK) everything on my plate was carb-city. I had a breadstick, pasta, and french fries. That, my friends, is fried guilt. And the ice cream was tasty, too! I really got an impressive workout trying to dig into that bucket. LOL!

The picture montage was great, and I was pretty entertained by some of the more interesting pictures of Jenny over the years.... hehe. The music was wonderful too, covering everything from the older songs that are still pretty popular today to our current playlist: Britney Spears, Lady GaGa, Katy Perry. All those lovely, wholesome inspirations.....

In all, the party was completely wonderful. Sadly, during the dancing part, my light-up ring was defective and I didn't get a plastic fedora (Nodding my head like yeaaaa! Moving my hips like yeaaaa!), nor did I get a blow-up guitar or a light-up microphone. BUT! I kindly gave away my tambourine thingie to Courtney, who wanted one desperately, haha! I still have my cutely tacky necklace, though. And, I'll have you know, as I type this entry, I'm still wearing my dress and red shutter shades on my head ;)

Love ya!

"Year One" Review

I know I'm more than a little late, but don't judge me! I just watched "Year One" on DVD for the first time, so I thought I'd share what I think.
First off, it was so funny I cried. The whole movie was absolutely hysterical, I loved it all.
Secondly, some parts were just so puke-inducing that words can't even describe it. Sheep intestines? Rubbing oil on a grossly hairy dude's chest? I wanted to vomit, I kid you not.
They stuck in a whole bunch of bits and pieces from history and the bible, and I was like, ?? It was extraordinarily amusing.
If you are ever having a depressing and/or stressful day, rent this movie. Buy it. Order it OnDemand, I don't care. But it WILL considerably brighten your day.

Writing "Alice"

As you all may or may not know (but you probably should), I love to write. And I love the Twilight Saga. These are easily two of my favorite things IN THE WORLD!!!!!! And so I write fan-fiction. Sort of. Well, I don't actually post it anywhere, I just write some of the characters from their point of view. I focus on their stories, on their beginnings, what could have possibly been running though their minds during their last minutes human, what their reactions were upon awakening as a vampire.
I've already written Rosalie's story, which, if any of you have read Eclipse, isn't very pleasant. It begins when she is lying in the cold street, recalling her life, thinking of what once was, could have been, and never could be again. It ends when she looks into the mirror for the first time in her new life, sees her new face, and wonders what she is. Now, I'm taking on the point of view of someone different, and who has always intrigued me as a character...
Alice.
She doesn't recall any of her human life, and so her story begins when she first wakes up. She can't remember, and she panics. But then she has her visions of Jasper, of the Cullens, and they save her. The future guided her in the right direction, told her which way to go. This is the journey that I want to follow along with Alice, and understand how she goes from waking up to where she winds up in the end.
It's been a lot of fun, so far, to write as Alice. She has an interesting story, and I don't see myself as deciding these things. I feel as though I'm letting Alice come to me, and show me herself what happened. It feels like something that really could be, at least for her, in her world. It doesn't make much sense, I know, but it doesn't have to. In my mind, Alice is telling me her story.

Love,
Patty ♥

P.S.- Probably my favorite Alice quote: "How strongly are you opposed to grand theft auto?"

Save the Arts, People!

Today I'm BEYOND AGGRAVATED. Most of my day went just fine, actually, until I got to sixth period. Because that's when I discovered IT.
IT, my friends, is information.
Information that Drama Club will NOT be going on this year!
Let me explain something to you first, so you get the complete picture.
I am anything but an athletically inclined person. I cannot sprint a mile or hit a ball to save my life. Therefore, what do I look to for extracurricular activities, since our super-competitive school sports teams are clearly out of the question? Allow me to answer that for you. I turn to the arts!
My whole life, I've been dramatic. I exaggerate and emphasize and rant until my point has been made, and then some. Anyone who reads this blog should know that. Anyone who has read any of my poetry should know that. Anyone who has even the faintest glimmer of who I am as a person should know that.
Unfortunately, due to budget cuts (yet another example of how Barack Obama has been doing a fat load of nothing), all of the arts have been cut at our school. So not just Drama Club! We're talking dance team, step team, art class, the whole lot.
Thankfully, the student council is, at least, trying to do something about it. My BFFL Jillian is on student council, and she reported that there will be a fundraiser in an attempt to bring back the arts. My school will be selling No Uniform passes, good for the Friday before Halloween, in order to raise the sum of money needed to return the arts to the student body. At least 1,000 students need to purchase if we're going to be successful! IF YOU'RE READING THIS AND YOU GO TO MY SCHOOL, BUY ONE!!!!!!! In fact, even feel free to donate more than the required $5. That would be just fabulous. Come on, people! Open your hearts! It's about time we save the arts!
(Hey, that rhymes!)

Love,
Patty ♥

Good Luck to My Fave Band Girls!

This one goes to all my girlies who are performing in the Fall Concert tomorrow night, on October 21, 2009. I'm proud of you, and I know you'll all do well! On my top three are, in no particular order:

Iyanu: Oy, chica! Your very first concert as a saxophonist! Exciting, I know, but also nerve-wracking. You have to have faith in yourself, have confidence that you're gonna do absolutely amazing, and that no one can stop you from being your wonderful, musically-gifted self.

Sarah: ILY, Sarah! You're always going to and fro to get that huge instrument case u have to tote around. Now that, my dear, is dedication. I believe in you, and I know that your unmatchable talent will put every musician around you to shame.

Kayla: OME! I'm beyond proud of you, Kayla. You always put 100% effort into everything you do, and band is anything but an exception. You put so much heart and care toward being a flutist, and I know that you're going to be absolutely incredible.

My fave band girls are credited above! ILY all so much! You're all so amazingly talented and put a lot of hard work into band, and now it's your night to shine.

Love,
Patty ♥

One. Month. GAH.

Oh em geee!!!!! It's exactly one month until New Moon as of today!!!!! I couldn't be more excited if I tried!!!!!
Well, I probably could. But you all wouldn't want to see that. Pretty scary.
So YEAH!!!!!!! I'm totally excited. It seems like just yesterday that I was celebrating the 100 day mark.... and now we've been reduced to this. Where has time gone?
Oh, and a new clip from New Moon was released on iTunes today!
I watched it, and Bella was so angry, and Paul was so insane, and Sam was all deep-voiced which I found sort of amusing, and then Bella slapped Paul across the face! I was like, oh snappp. She just slapped a werewolf with anger-management issues. She's pretty much dead. But, of course, for all of you who have read the book, you know she isn't really! But Paul explodes into a huge, snarly gray wolf, and then Jacob came running down from the house. Bella was totally in a panic, running away as her little klutzy self, and BOOM! Wolfy Jacob! Hehe, I liked his face at the end of the clip. I thought it was sort of funny.
And yeah! I'm sorry that you all had to tolerate my fangirl rant. LOL!

Love ya,
Patty ♥

P.S.- I've decided that, instead of saying "I'm on Team Edward" to a Team Jacob person, you could say something much more creative that will more than likely leave them confused and without a response........

"Sorry, but I'm a fang-banger."

I have yet to see anyone come up with something to say for that one!!!! LMAO! Isn't that a much funner response? Team Edward girls, try it out on your Team Jacob BFF. Team Jacob girls, better start wracking those brains for a clever comeback!

New Moon Soundtrack!

OMG! So on Saturday I got the New Moon Soundtrack! *squeal!* I WOULD have gotten it on Friday, when it was released, but SOME people didn't want to drive me about 5 minutes to the local Walmart. My mom surprised me with it on Saturday, and I was thrilled! I listened with my BFFL Jillian ( http://frickenhappiness.blogspot.com/) that night for the first time Saturday night, and here's what I have to say.
Overall, I was fairly impressed with it. Some of the songs weren't exactly my taste, but I'm sure they'll grow on me upon the release of the movie. I didn't like them all, but I liked them for New Moon, if that makes sense. I think they'll go well with the movie. I really liked some of the songs, like "Meet Me on the Equinox" by Death Cab for Cutie, or "Friends" by Band of Skulls. I thought the soundtrack was very good as a whole.
What I really love, though, is the score. "New Moon (The Meadow)" by Alexandre Desplat lived up to my every expectation. It captured the essence of New Moon perfectly. Absolutely haunting, it just pulls your heart in a million directions when you listen to it. Completely brilliant.
So yeah! New Moon Soundtrack! If you haven't already, go buy it, 'cuz it kicks ass! Still not sure? The official Twilight MySpace page has the complete soundtrack available so you can decide if you want it or not! (Pfft, like you wouldn't!)

Patty ♥

Seemingly Random Thoughts For the Day.....

Dum, dum, dum. I seem to think of random things throughout the day. Let's see what I've been thinking about! *insert thought bubble here*

Kellan Lutz is a sexy beast.
One day and one month until New Moon!!!!
I hate jogging.
Eagles are terrible creatures that I dislike.
"Where the Needy, Passive-Aggressive Things Are"!
I need a manicure. And a pedicure. Desperately.
My eyes are really red and I don't know why and I'm kind of concerned!
Dolls kinda creep me out.
The New Moon Soundtrack is amazing!
(See next post)
Ripped jeans haven't been cool for, like, two years.
Never trust pencils that you bought 20 for $2.

Hmmm. Well, I think that we can conclude that my mind is a completely and totally strange place. But didn't we already know that?? LOL!

Best Song Lyrics EVER!

I got bored! So! I compiled a list of, in my opinion, the best song lyrics EVER WRITTEN!

"I'll be your prince, I'll be your saint, I will go crashing through fences in your name. I will, I swear. I'll be someone to fall back on."
-Someone to Fall Back On; Jason Robert Brown

"So go and tell your friends that I'm obsessive and crazy. That's fine, I'll tell mine you're gay."
-Picture to Burn; Taylor Swift

"Run far away so I can breathe, even though you're far from suffocating me. I can't set my hopes too high, 'cuz every hello ends with a goodbye."
-Catch Me; Demi Lovato

"Where's your gavel? Your jury? What's my offense this time? You're not a judge but if you're gonna judge me, well sentence me to another life."
-Ignorance; Paramore

Might add more if I think of some! Any suggestions??

"Fame" Review

Remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember, remember my name! FAME! I'm gonna live forever! I'm gonna learn how to fly! FAME! I'm gonna make it to heaven...
Oh, whoopsies. Sorry, I've been singing it all night. Ask Stefanie. I prolly annoyed her to death, LOL!
The movie had lotsa random plot twists with tons of drama, but that just goes to show what can happen on the road to conquest, in the overall journey to...
*dramatic pause*
FAME!!!!!!

Sorry, I just had to.
Anyway! It was a super-good movie. My dad would have been bored to death though. Good thing we went without him! It had a lot of romance, anger, self-discovery.... hmmm. Now that I think of it, kind of like High School Musical. Only A MILLION TIMES BETTER. Every person in that movie was wonderfully talented. The singers did beautifully, the musicians were excellent, the actors were lovely, but the dancers really blew me away, perhaps most of all. I was like, WOW. This performing arts thing is no joke. And it really isn't. Not when you're ruthlessly striving to be best, to achieve...
*dramatic pause*
FAME!!!!!!

Okay, I'll stop now.
But seriously. The movie was suspenseful, emotional, funny, and very well done. I would recommend it to anyone who would want an HSM flick with good music, or to someone who has big dreams and would go to any lengths to reach them.
Oh, and when I go back to school on Monday and sit down at lunch, I'm really going to see how boring it is. 'Cuz in Fame, the lunch hour is full of random music, dancing on tables, video cameras, and singing random songs. And everyone gets into it and has fun. Again, kind of like High School Musical, only actually believable, for the most part. It was a fabulous movie, so go ASAP to follow these young stars in the making as they begin on the climb to...
*dramatic pause*
FAME!!!!!!

I won't apologize for that one! XD

Differences, Dead Fish, and Sing-Alongs

Today at theRUSH, I went with the lovely Stefanie (wave hello, Stefanie!) and her entourage of multiple peeps :D But anyway, we got there, and it was the last week of Heroes & Villains, the program that had been going on for several weeks at theRUSH. I was majorly irritated 'cuz "Ignorance" (by the fabulous Paramore, featuring our homegirl Hayley Williams) wasn't played! I was all, grrr!
So yeah, Scot (genius founder of theRUSH) was going on talking about differences, and how young people today should be standing out rather than trying to blend in as we so often do. Because we are Christians, we should live by the standards of God and the Bible, not the standards of the world. And he mentioned something about these lovely suits that, when you go in water, the water doesn't affect your body. Which was the PERFECT example for our pretty little wise words for the day:

"Be in the world, not of it."

Basically, that means, be in the world, open yourselves to others, but above all else, before you listen to what the world is telling you to do, listen to what God is telling you to do. We are different because we are Christians, and we prove it by being in this world, not of this world. The world is, after all, limited and always wanting, and always coming to an end, but accept God and Jesus and their teachings into your life, and you're set for eternity.
Also, Bubbles, the fish that can only swim in circles 'cuz it got attacked by a crab and got some Nemo-esque qualities...... yeah. Bubbles died.
Then we went out to eat, and I got drunk on lemonade, but I was soooo full of it that i thought i was going to vomit but didn't. Even still, I stuffed down chicken wings. 'Cuz you don't turn down wings that good. You just don't. It should be a crime to do so.
And after all of this, we got back in the car, and we all sang along to "Paparazzi" "Don't Trust Me" "Ignorance" and "Good Girls Go Bad"! (I might inform you that these are easily some of the best songs EVER.)
So yeah! That was my day! Stay tuned for my post on my review of "Fame"!

theRUSH

Mmaky, so if anyone reading this is Christian, hit up http://www.feelintherush.com/theRUSH/theRUSH.html 'cuz it is totally amazing! Not so much church, think more along the lines of... rock concert. Extremely cool. It's got everything to make religion fun for teens. Examples?
-Live music!
-Music videos!
-Movie clips!
-Contests!
-Prizes!
-Technology!
-And... well... you get the idea! My God, it's cool! (No pun intended.)

It's definitely not your average church! For anyone who is Christian and loves God, but can't really get into the whole religious kick because church is boring... you've just met your match! Check it out, it's not gonna hurt anybody :)
Seriously though. Check it out. Worst case scenario, you take two minutes and think it looks lame (ha, yeah right!), best case scenario, you think it looks super-cool and check it out further. PLEASE look at this site, i wouldn't be telling you to if it wasn't super cool/amazing/badass/stylin'. (Don't ask, these are just words I use.)

Love ya!

Vanquish the Volturi Within ;)

Okay, you can admit it: we all have our little faults. We try to be good little boys and girls most of the time, but we can slip up. If you are a Twilight fan, you are no stranger to the Volturi, hmm? For the rest of you, the Volturi is the sort of "royal family" in the vampire world, according to the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer. They are KINDA crazy, each in their own way. On the surface, they're polished and refined, but underneath? Total psychos. Each for their own reason. Here's how to vanquish the Volturi within, one member at a time!

Aro:
Personally, I think that it's awfully hard to hate Aro. He's just so friendly and courteous to everybody. However, a few millenia can make you go more than a little insane. Aro's talent is that he can read every thought you've ever had with just one touch. This ability has made him somewhat the self-appointed leader of the Volturi, and the rest of them are okay with that. What Aro is doing wrong is that he's taking the saying "knowledge is power" and twisting it into not-so-pleasant ways. Knowledge IS power. Aro has as much knowledge as anyone who has ever touched his hand, therefore, he is the most powerful. Don't become like Aro, gathering information, a power-hungry, unstoppable force. Learn to use what you know for the forces of good.

Caius:
I'll admit it... no one really likes Caius. He's absolutely crazy. Frankly, he wants nothing more than violence, death, and destruction. I think it's pretty obvious what he's doing wrong here. He goes out of his way to see others dwindle away, making him feel stronger, knowing that he has such a capacity to destroy. HELLO! Whatever you choose to do, please don't let it be this. Feel true joy for the success of another human being! Don't be rash about things, act impulsively, and cackle evilly while everyone but you comes crashing down. Not a good thing. At all.

Marcus:
It's sort of hard to formulate an opinion about Marcus, I think, mainly because he's just so boring. And he's boring because he's bored. Try to look at things in a positive way! And Marcus has the power to see relationships, which is actually a good thing, so long as he doesn't misuse his power. Marcus has no wife, and is the least vivid of the three main leaders of the Volturi. Perhaps with good reason- the poor man has simply seen too many centuries of Aro's enthusiasm. Unlike him, try to relish in the enthusiasm of others rather than shun it. After all, we only have one lifetime of it to take!

Jane:
Jane is a relatively young member of the Volturi, twin sister to Alec. Her talent was acquired after her experience of being burned at the stake back in the witch-hunting era. She and Alec were thought to be witches, so their punsishment was carried out, but not completed, as Aro rescued the twins before death. The horrible experience gave Jane the talent of inflicting pain with her thoughts. Don't be this way! No mind games, because those are never any good.

Alec:
Alec is Jane's twin brother, and her antidote. While Jane causes fiery torture, Alec completely numbs all of your senses, leaving you absolutely alone in the dark. This can be destructive because giving people the cold shoulder, leaving them alone, and in the dark- that's bad. They will slowly crumble, and it's an awful thing to have others be destroyed inside.

Well, I think that just about covers the 5 main Volturi members, yes? Remember, the Volturi are on the brink of insanity! Follow these tips and live a happy lifestyle! LOL. Tell me what you want me to write about and I'd be more than happy to. thanks!

Love and kisses,
Patty ♥

Hello, and Welcome to my Blog!

Hi! I'm Patty, and this is my blog! A few things about me...

I love to write! I need to escape into another world every now and then, I'm just about the most uninteresting person ever. LOL!
Reading is awesome! Def not just for nerds, folks. Reading is seriously cool, and one of the best boredom-busters if you can really get into the story. You have to get past the words and make them into pictures in your mind.
I'm super random! Half the time I don't make any sense at all, and I just burst out with whatever's on my mind at the moment.
I luuuvvv Twilight! And NOT just because the actors are super-hot. I can't stand it when people only like it because of that. I believe that it is honestly a beautiful story, and I loved the books before I loved the franchise.
My best friends are incredible! I don't know what I'd do without them. They give me my reality checks, shoulders to cry on, laughs to share. I love you guys with all my heart, I never did anything to deserve friends as great as you.
I'm Catholic, although I'm open-minded to other beliefs and practices. I think they're very interesting. I will forever remain faithful to my God, my creator, my light, my purpose, for without Him I am not here.
I'm always trying to help people out, and I try SO hard to always be nice. It helps if people aren't mean to me. Makes me more willing.
Finally, I'm not popular. At all. People look at me like I'm weird. (Well, I am, but still! It's not polite!) I'm fine with it, though, because I'd much rather have a few close friends who I can tell anything to than know everybody and live a life where you have to tear others down to build yourself up.

That pretty much covers who I am, I think. If you still want to read my blog, great! By all means, please do. Tell me what you want to read about, I'll see if i can throw something together for you. If you've decided that I'm too lame for your time, cool. If you don't want to see life my way, I can respect that. I just don't agree. Because the way I see it, life is beautiful. And that's the way everyone should think.

Much love,
Patty♥
